Thank you for signing up for the Portland Trails’ Trail to Ale 10K Race/Walk. Your participation helps support the annual maintenance of the 70-mile trail network in Greater Portland.

 

 

 

Here’s the 2017 race course map.

START: Intersection of Quebec St and Eastern Promenade. The race begins promptly at 9am. Please arrive early. We have to take down the start line and open the streets to cars by 9:15 am.

FINISH LINE: Just before Cutter Street on the Eastern Promenade Trail.

RUNNER/WALKER AMENITIES

    • Water stops located approximately every two miles.
    • Free long-sleeved running shirts for first 250 registrants, $20 for all other registrants. We strongly recommend to purchase online before race.
    • Automatic timing with ChronoTrack B-Tag chip.
    • Pre-race kineseo taping and post-race yoga and massages available at start/after-party by Jade Integrated Health (More details below).
    • Post-race refreshments,  including Portland Pie Co pizza and Shipyard Brewing Company beverages and healthy snacks from Shaws.
    • DJ and dancing at the post-race celebration.
    • Awards for top three participants by age group, top three Portland Trails members, and top three teams.

Portland Trails is 26 years old this year and we couldn’t have built and continued to maintain the trails without the support of our members. 

Pre/Post race yoga and massage: East End’s own Jade Integrated Health has generously donated FREE pre-race kineseo taping and post-race yoga and massage for runners. Following the race, Jade therapists will support your post-race cool down with a sequence of poses aimed at restoring your legs, improving your range of motion and aiding recovery. After cool down, massages will be available to help with post-race health.

RACE LOGISTICS

Packet Pick Up:  Friday, September 15th, 10:30am-6pm and Saturday, September 17th 10:30am-2pm at Fleet Feet Maine Running (309 Marginal Way, Portland)   Participants coming from out of town can pick up their bibs on race day from 7:30-8:30 am on the Eastern Promenade, near the start. PLEASE arrive early. We cannot check you in after 8:30 am and will start the race on time at 9am.

Parking: We encourage you to bike to/from the race. It’s a great way to warm up and cool down. Bicycle parking is available along the Eastern Prom. Car parking in lots and garages can be found here. Street parking is available in the East End neighborhood. Car parking is not allowed along or in the Eastern Prom road or on Cutter St on race day. Please carpool or bike to/from the race, if you can.

Port-a-Potties will be located near our information tent on the Eastern Promenade. 

Race shirts for sale: $20. A limited number of long sleeve wicking shirts will be available for sale at packet pick up on Friday and Saturday. Shirts sizes are first come, first serve and there may be limited availability at packet pick up/race day. We strongly recommend that you pre-order!

Bib Transfer: We do not offer refunds for race registrations. You may transfer your bib to another registrant until September 10. Go to race registration page and click “Manage registration” log in with your email, confirmation code, and birthdate and you can transfer your bib using the option on the home screen.

CELEBRATION & RACE AFTER-PARTY

Party Location: Eastern Prom, middle parking lot on Cutter Street, above the East End boat launch

**Beer: Please read this ifDDostie_OldPortMagTrailtoAle10k2015-_-3444 you are planning to consume beer at the celebration. **

Each participant who would like to consume beer must present a valid ID either at Friday or Saturday packet pick-up where a temporary tattoo will be administered. This tattoo will act as your 21+ ID post-race, should you not want to bring your ID/wallet on race day. OR You may bring an ID and BIB to the entrance to the beer area on race day for beers for runners. There will be no exceptions made. We cannot administer a tattoo on race day.  After ID or tattoo  has been checked, the participant may proceed into the “beer area” where you can have two beverages included with registration. In order to keep everyone safe, all alcohol must stay in the “beer area.” You will not be allowed to take beer outside of the “beer area.” If you would like to purchase additional beer, you may do so for $4/each.

Non-participants who are 21+ years of age may show ID and purchase beer for $4/each. They must also consume any purchased beer in the roped off “beer area.”

Food: Only racers will be allowed in the food area. Portland Pie Company will be offering food for Trail to Ale participants. Fruit and snacks will also be on hand. Each runner will be allowed one slice of pizza, with seconds and extras handed out as supplies last.

Awards: We aim to begin the awards ceremony at 10:30 am. With a field of 2000 participants, we need to wait until we have results across all categories. This may cause us to start the awards process a little later. The top overall males and females, the top three teams as well as the top three males and females in each of the age groups will receive awards. Teams will receive awards from Shipyard Brewing Co. and Portland Pie. Everyone who places as an individual will receive a Trail to Ale medal–a Shipyard beer can opener & ribbon. The top three finishers overall and age group winners will receive additional awards.

OTHER DETAILS

Race results: Results will be posted at the party. On Sunday afternoon, your time will be emailed to you by the timing company. Results will be posted on coolrunning.com, as well. With the amount of data being processed in a short time, we expect a few errors to happen. Please contact the timing company if there is an error. Results will be corrected.
