Volunteering on the trails is a great way to learn about green spaces and give back to your community. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
- Public Volunteer Days: Portland Trails holds monthly volunteer days usually on the weekends during the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons. Participating is not only a great way to lend a hand, but also to meet other trail enthusiasts in your community. Get details on upcoming public volunteer day dates/times, and sign up.
- Become a Trail Steward: Trail stewards are committed, knowledgeable trail users who work alongside staff ensuring the trails are consistently maintained. Trail Steward responsibilities entail using the specific trail section assigned to them, weekly, whether it be walking, running, or biking. This allows them to keep track of any maintenance needs on their trail to take note of and report back. Portland Trails’ Stewardship and Volunteer Coordinator trains each steward on what to look for and the proper reporting methods. To submit an interest form, please click here.
- Group Volunteers: Interested in bringing your office, class, or team out on the trails? A day of trail work is a great opportunity for team building and connects your group with the Portland community and local trails. Sign your group up here.
