Laura never imagined that her background in art/architecture and teaching middle school English would somehow come together in the work she does as part of the School Ground Greening Coalition, which she founded under the aegis of Portland Trails in 2003. She misses the classroom but loves collaborating and fostering leadership in a different way, with teachers, parents and students on these special public spaces.

When Laura is not writing grants, facilitating workshops and projects, or working out on school grounds, she hangs out with her husband and two boys in Portland, volunteers at Hall School, and serves on the board of the Portland Education Foundation.
