Sheila lives in Portland with her husband and two children, who also walk to school on the trails. Together they love to notice nature’s little gems–the pattern of frost, the tight curl of a fern, the first lady slippers, and so much more!
Experiential education has been the common thread throughout Sheila’s career–from teaching environmental education and leading canoe trips, to launching a study abroad program in Thailand and now working to create greener school grounds at local schools. Sheila has a graduate degree in Environmental Studies from Antioch University-New England and has always wanted to work for a local non-profit that touches people’s lives so directly. She is greatly inspired by the collaboration between the School Ground Greening Coalition and Portland Trails, and thrives on working closely with teachers, parents, and school administrators to bring their visions for beautiful, green play spaces to fruition.
