In Greater Portland, we are lucky to have an abundance of two things: beautiful natural spaces and people who are inspired by them. To celebrate this intersection of art and nature, we are so excited to invite you to a Trailside Poetry Reading! This free poetry reading will feature a slate of talented local poets reading their poems about nature, in nature. Bring a chair, bundle up, and settle in for an evening of nature and words. They'll be sure to brighten up your November evening!
Walking, biking, & rolling: Fort Allen Park can be accessed from Eastern Promenade or from the Eastern Prom Trail. Please note that if you use the trail, you will encounter stone steps up to the park.
Bus: Route 1
Driving: Street parking is available on Eastern Promenade, the Fort Allen Park loop, and nearby neighborhood streets.
Fort Allen Park is accessible to people who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices. The park is on a slope, but there are wide paved trails leading from the accessible parking area to the gazebo. Because there is no wheelchair ramp into the gazebo, our poets will be standing on the steps of the gazebo and audience members will gather on the grass and paved paths. If you have any additional questions about this event's accessibility, don't hesitate reach out! We'd love to help in any way we can. You can email bailey@trails.org or call (207) 775-2411.
