April 17th - 22nd
Celebrate the Earth, trails, sustainability, and more!
Each day of Portland Trails' Earth Week Celebration, presented by Town & Country Federal Credit Union, we'll have a different activity or challenge for you! The week will culminate with a city-wide Earth Day Celebration in Payson Park, hosted by the City of Portland.
Calendar of events for the week:
Portland's Favorite Trail
Of all the trails in the Portland Trails network...which one is your favorite? Voting will begin Monday and will last all week on social media. The winning trail will be announced on Earth Day. Vote for your #1 pick!
We all know we play an important role in taking care of our planet. On #GetGreener Day, we'll provide you a few tips on how to make "greener" decisions that will make a difference in your community.
Car-free Commute Challenge
If your commute usually involves a car, take our Car-Free Commute Challenge! On Wednesday, instead of driving, walk, bike, or take the bus to work or school. Snap a photo of your commute, tag Portland Trails on social media, and use #EarthWeekCarFreeCommute – we might share it with our followers!
Cocktail for a Cause
Raise a glass to Portland Trails! Stop by Three of Strong Spirits today, or any time this month – $2 from every special cocktail sold throughout April will be donated to Portland Trails. Cheers!
Trail Reading Day
Take a book with you on your favorite trail today and immerse yourself in a story (and nature). If you're looking to read about trails while on the trails, you can purchase a copy of Writing the Land: Maine, a poetry anthology inspired by land trusts throughout the state. (More details to come!)
Earth Day Celebration
You're invited to the City of Portland's Earth Day Celebration! Stop by Payson Park on Earth Day, 4/22, between 10am and 1pm to meet representatives from sustainability-minded organizations throughout Portland. There will also be music, food trucks, face paint, and outdoor activities for the whole family. See you there!
