Holiday Dash 5K, presented by Martin’s Point Health Care

Here’s everything you’ll need to know to participate in this event! There’s a lot of information below, so please read everything thoroughly and review before the race.

Our volunteers help this event run smoothly! If you have a friend who’d be interested, or if you’re bringing a spectator who’d like to lend a hand while you run, share our Holiday Dash volunteer opportunities with them.


**Important change**

All race participants entering Ri Ra before or after the race will be carded at the door. If you purchased a brunch add-on OR if you’re interested in purchasing a drink at Ri Ra before or after the race, bring your ID!

Masks: Masks are recommended anytime you are indoors.

Packet pick up on Saturday, December 10th

If you live within approximately 15 miles of Portland, please pick up your bib on Saturday. The pre-race bib pick up on Sunday is reserved for out-of-town participants. This will help prevent long lines on Sunday morning.

When: Saturday, 12/10 from 10:30am to 2:00pm

Where: Fleet Feet Maine Running, 309 Marginal Way

Picking up bibs for more than one person: This is fine as long as you have permission from the person whose bib you are picking up.

In-person registration: We will be signing people up in-person during packet pick up on Saturday. There is no in-person registration on Sunday.

Bib transfer: Bib transfers will not be allowed at packet pick up.


Race day information

When: Sunday, 12/11 at 11:00am

Where: The race starts and finishes on the Eastern Prom Trail near the end of Thames St., between Ocean Gateway and the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. The course heads down the trail toward Back Cove and turns around at the intersection of the Eastern Prom Trail, Back Cove Trail, Bayside Trail, and the Loring Memorial Steps. Here is a course map for exact location information. Please note: No dogs or strollers are allowed on the race course.

Parking: We encourage you to walk, run, bike, or take the bus if you can! But if you do drive, you can park on the street for free (it’s a Sunday!) or you can pay to park in a nearby lot or garage. There is no parking for participants in the Amethyst lot next to the race start.

Bathrooms: There are restrooms in Ri Ra and in the Casco Bay Lines ferry terminal building. We will also have one portable restroom near the race start. See exact location on the course map.

Water: There will be a water stop at the half-way point, located at the intersection of the Eastern Promenade Trail, Back Cove Trail, Bayside Trail, and the Loring Memorial Stairs. Bottled water will be available at the finish line.

Bib pick up: Out of town participants who did not pick up their bibs on Saturday can pick their bibs up before the race from 9:30 to 10:45am at Ri Ra Irish Pub at 72 Commercial St.  We have to close packet pick up 15 minutes before the race start to transfer files to our timing company. If you arrive late, we unfortunately won’t be able to get you your bib. Same-day registration will not be available.

Bib transfer: Bib transfers will not be allowed the day of the race.

Hats: Registrants will receive a complimentary Holiday Dash winter hat! Fun, festive, and very useful. One size fits all. You can pick yours up when you get your bib on Saturday or Sunday.

Timing and results: Timing by Split Time Race Management. You can be notified of your results via text or email! If you’re not sure you signed up for that feature, you can edit your RunSignUp profile.

Awards: Because the focus of this event is on community and health rather than competition, there won’t be any awards.

Post-race: All participants are invited to enjoy complimentary coffee, cocoa, and non-alcoholic beer at the finish line.

Brunch: Participants who purchased a brunch add-on can walk up the street to Ri Ra after the race. *Please bring your ID and your beverage ticket!* Your ID will be checked at the door. After that, you can proceed to the bar and brunch.
